Shirley Ann O’Dell
1935-2009
Shirley Ann O’Dell, 74, Richmond, MO, died at 9:55 A.M. on November 30, 2009 as a result of a fatality car accident near Warsaw, MO.
Mrs. O’Dell was born November 7, 1935, the daughter of Lawrence and Virginia Simmons, who preceded her in death. A brother, Larry Dean Simmons and his family survives.
Mrs. O’Dell married Earl Strickler in 1954 and of that marriage was born Kimberly Strickler, who died in infancy, and daughter Jennifer S. Thompson of Richmond, who with her family Stanley M. Thompson, Clayton E. Thompson and Kristie A. Thompson survive.
Mrs. O’Dell married Tommy D. O’Dell, her high school sweetheart, on March 14, 1983. Mr. O’Dell survives of the home. Through Mr. O’Dell Shirley received the pleasure of an extended family of step-sons, Ed and his wife, Carol; Tom and Alan O’Dell and a step-daughter, Teresa Bishop and her husband, Rick along with several grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
Mrs. O’Dell lived and worked her adult life in Richmond first working for her family grocery store of Temple Stevens, Otis Chandler, and the Probate Court. Subsequently, she worked for Doctors George and DeMotte until her retirement.
Mrs. O’Dell was very active with her church, family life and her friends.
Memorial Service Saturday, December 5, 2009 at the Henrietta Baptist Church in Henrietta, MO at 10:00 A.M. The Family request no flowers and instead for those motivated to donate that they contribute to the Juvenile Diabetes Association. Mrs. O’Dell was a member of the Missouri Cremation Services.
