Robert "Bob" E. Shields, 80, Independence, Missouri passed away Friday, May 15, 2015 at his home.
He was born March 12, 1935 to Russell and Alta (Snow) Shields in Kansas City, Kansas.
Bob married Margaret on May 6, 2012.
Mr. Shields served in the Navy Reserve during the Korean War
He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Central Missouri. Bob went on to work for the Independence Police Department where he retired after 17 years as the Captain of the Narcotics division. He later worked as head of security for Churchill Truck Lines.
Bob loved motor sports and was a talented wood carver and chair caner.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Catherine; and one grandson.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Shields; children, Mark Shields, Liz Carpenter, Paul Shields, Charlotte West, Kim Garner and Heather Jenkins; 15 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and "The Family Heirloom", Aunt Dorothy Vader.
Farewell Services 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, First Christian Church Disciples of Christ Church. Inurnment Mt. Washington Cemetery. The family will gather with friends 6:30 to 8:30 P.M. Tuesday, First Christian Church Disciples of Christ Church. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the First Christian Church Memorial Fund or Crossroads at Salvation Army.
