Raymond D. Hignight, 69, St. Joseph, Missouri, died Saturday, June 10, 2006 at his home after a brief illness.
Born September 17, 1936, in Kansas City, Kansas. He moved from Kansas City, Kansas to St. Joseph in 1978, where he lived for the rest of his life.
Mr. Hignight was a graduate of the Derby, Kansas High School. He is a veteran of the United States Navy, and served in the Korean Conflict from 1953 to 1957. He married Judith A. Fredericksen July 7, 1961, who survives of the home. His family, home, and close circle of friends were the center of his life.
He was a District Manager for the Western Extralite Company for St. Joseph, Sedalia, and Warrensburg for 30 years.
Mr. Hignight was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Clinton and Myrtle Ruth (Webb) Hignight; and sister, Joanne Allee.
He was a member of Rosedale Lodge #333, A.F. & A.M., and Abdiel Chapter #267 Order of Eastern Star, Kansas City, Kansas. He was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, a member of Moila Temple Shrine, Moila Legion of Honor, and Pony Express Post #359 American Legion, all of St. Joseph.
(Survivors:) his daughter, Kimberley Anne Tullis and special friend John M. Taylor of St. Joseph; Christian Dean Hignight and fiancé Teresa L. Hernandez of St. Joseph; two grandsons Tristan M.D. and his wife Ashley Hignight of Denver, Colorado, Taylor C. Hignight of St. Joseph; great-granddaughter Madelynne A. Hignight of Denver; and two sisters Beverly R. Waldo of Frisco, Texas, Lana J. Smith of Kansas City, Missouri.
(Services:) Raymond has been cremated under the direction of Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. A celebration of his life will be planned at a later time. A register book will be available for signing at Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. The Family suggests memorial gifts to any charity of the donor's choice, or Hands of Hope Hospice.
