Melvin E. Hougas, 89, St. Joseph, Missouri died Saturday, November 26, 2011 at Saxton Woods.
He was born March 6, 1922 in Des Moines, Iowa to Ward and Elva (Merchant) Hougas.
Melvin E. Hougas was a Merchant Marine during WWII. He worked as Line-o-type Operator for the St. Joseph News-Press for 38 years. Melvin was a Pastor of the RLDS Church, 17th Street Congregation, and of Atchison RLDS Church, a Chaplain for HRMC and the Treasurer of the Printer's Union
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Genevieve Francis.
(Survivors:) daughters, Avis Jackson, Ann Chlebored, both of St. Joseph; three grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
