Joseph Dennis Wertz, 60, St. Joseph, died Monday, October 12, 2009 at the Missouri Veteran's Home in Cameron from ALS disease; a disease he did not want his family or friends to know he was battling.
Joseph was born November 9, 1948 in St. Joseph, the son of Jack and Marjorie (Spencer) Wertz.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Joseph was a veteran of the US Navy serving during the Vietnam War and an over the road truck driver. He lived in Palatka, FL for several years.
He was a member of the VFW and American Legion in Florida.
Joseph loved music and NASCAR Racing.
(Survivors:) mother, Marjorie Wertz, St. Joseph; daughters, Tina Lee Stobaugh, and Amy Stallsworth, both of St. Joseph and Jo Wertz, Kansas City, MO; son, Dustin Wertz, St. Joseph; brother, Tom Wertz, St. Joseph; sister, Donna Hardin, Bradenton, FL; four grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Graveside Service and Inurnment 3:00 P.M. Friday, Memorial Park Cemetery. The Family suggests memorial gifts to the ALS Association, Cameron Veteran's Home, or Comfort Care Hospice.
