Obituary
Janice Fern Cummings, 81, of Clearmont, Missouri passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on March 3, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, generosity, and unwavering kindness.
Born on January 6, 1945, in Maryville, Missouri to Harold and Selma Cummings with a natural gift for making others feel welcome, Janice lived her life as a bright light to everyone fortunate enough to know her. She greeted friends, family, neighbors—and even strangers—with a warm smile that could soften the hardest day. Her laughter was infectious, filling rooms with joy and reminding all around her not to take life too seriously.
Janice was famous for never letting anyone leave her home empty-handed. Whether it was a cold bottle of Pepsi, sugar cookies, or a handful of Dove chocolates pressed into a child's palm "for later," she believed sweets made life sweeter—and she made sure to share both generously.
Janice's legacy is one of simple but powerful gestures: a smile, a laugh, a shared candy, a listening ear. She taught those around her that kindness costs nothing but means everything.
More than anything, Janice cherished her family. Preceded in death by her parents Harold and Selma Cummings, infant sister Lynn, and Brother Ray.
She is survived by her children Alisha Mick, Jason Dew, Jessica (Allen) Jones; Grandchildren Lacie Molnar, Jonathan (Samantha) Mires, Chelsea Taylor, Dalaney Dew, Sheri (Roy) Roush, Christy Harris, Eric Jones; 10 Great Grandchildren; special friend Danny Bartlett; Brother Lavern (Hazel) Cummings, sister-in-law Cindy Cummings.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered in the laughter of her grandchildren, the recipes and stories passed down through generations, and in every act of quiet generosity inspired by her example. Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort knowing that her sweetness—both in spirit and in treats—will live on in all of us.
Memorial Service 11:00 A.M. Thursday, March 12, First Christian Church, Burlington Junction, Missouri. Janice was a member of the Missouri Cremation Service. Online guestbook and obituary at www.missouricremation.com.
