James Norman Sloan, 75, Independence, Missouri, passed away Thursday, May 11, 2006 at St. Luke's Hospital.
Born July 7, 1930 in Knob Noster, Missouri. He served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
Jim retired after 38 years of service as a Manager with Consolidated Freightways.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Jennings and Persie Louise (Meals) Sloan, and his son James Sloan.
Jim was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather to his wife, Billie Sloan, of the home; daughter Felicia Hansen and her son Blake of San Diego, California; daughter Vanessa Allen and her husband Bob and their children Bobby and Sadie of Kansas City; daughter Anita Sloan of Independence; daughter Lora Shaw and her husband Mike, of Shawnee, Kansas and granddaughter Dannielle Sloan, daughter of Lora and the late Jim Sloan; brother Robert Sloan and his wife June of Warsaw, Missouri, numerous nieces, nephews and golfing buddies.
A memorial service and inurnment will take place at a future date. The family would like to offer a special thank you to all the doctors, nurses and support staff at St. Luke's Hospital.
