Harry R. Leonard
1931-2023
Harry R. Leonard, 91, Valley Falls, Kansas, passed away Friday, January 20, 2023, peacefully in his home surrounded by his family.
He was born October 19, 1931 in Effingham, Kansas to David and Laura (Shell) Leonard.
He married Marcia Ruth Alexander on October 12, 1957. She preceded him in death on May 14, 2014.
He worked as a guard at Lansing State Penitentiary and began his U.S. Postal Service career as a USPS Police Officer, later transitioning to the warehouse where he served until his retirement in 2013 at the age of 81.
He enjoyed farming, gardening, hunting, fishing. Later in life he enjoyed watching westerns and “Walker, Texas Ranger.”
He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Marcia; his parents; and son Benjamin Christopher.
Survivors include Paul Leonard (Desiree); Laura Leonard; Grandchildren Nathan, Jace, and Kimber.
Harry was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Methodist Church.
