Obituary
Dustin Brennan Paschal was born in Des Moines, IA, on October 2, 1975, and died in Big Bear, CA, on August 8, 2025.
Dustin is survived by his parents, Steve and Phyllis Paschal of Kingman, AZ, his brother, Nick Paschal (Liz Finelli), his nieces, Charlie and Brennan Paschal all of Santa Monica, CA, his partner, Jessica Johnson of Winnetka, CA, and his aunts and uncles Patti and Rich Kopp, Windsor, CO, Denny (Andrea) Johnson, Urbandale, IA, and Julie and Mike Smith, Urbandale, IA.
He was predeceased by his grandparents, Leo and Irene Brennan, Gus and Jeane Paschal, and his aunts, Kristi Johnson and Connie Brennan.
Dustin grew up in Urbandale and graduated from UHS in 1994. After high school, you could find his infectious smile behind a number of bars, on baseball and softball fields, and around Central Iowa running a camera for WOI TV.
He lived in the Des Moines area until he joined Nick in Los Angeles in 2010. Dustin spent his time in Southern California working at Westside Rentals, chilling at the beach, going to concerts, playing golf, throwing bags, watching movies, cooking, cheering for the Broncos, Cubs, and Hawkeyes, and hanging out with friends.
After his parents retired to Arizona, Dustin also made numerous trips to Kingman for family time, cruising Route 66, and exploring the hiking trails of the Hualapai and Cerbat mountains.
Dustin was a man of many talents, brimming with confidence and wit. He was an Iowa State Champion baseball player, a beloved karaoke singer, the 2018 ELTC fantasy football champion, a Gen X trivia guru, an antiquarian, and above all else, a decent human.
The void he leaves in this world is as big as the impact he made in it.
For those who were impacted by Dustin, visitation services will be held at Westover Funeral Home on Friday, August 22, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to one of these causes: LA County Animal Care Foundation (https://lacountyanimals.org/) or MusiCares (https://www.musicares.org/).
