Obituary
Don Raymond
1935-2023
Donald H. Raymond, 88, Stanberry, Missouri, passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 15, 2023, in his home surrounded by his family.
He was born on August 5, 1935, in rural Nodaway County, Missouri, the son of Clarence and Edrie (Cartwright) Raymond.
Don graduated from Stanberry High School in 1953 and joined the Air Force. While stationed at Atlus AFB in Oklahoma, he met and married Margaret Ann Dunn on April 27, 1957. Together, they had three children - Donald Brian, Diana Lynn and Terrence Alan.
Don began a farming career upon returning home after 8 years of service in the Air Force, where he farmed with his dad for several years and began his family. He then moved to the outskirts of town where he purchased a plot of land and continued farming while working various other jobs.
Don loved woodworking and made many heirlooms, which his family will continue to enjoy for years to come. He began traveling after retirement from the Internal Revenue Service in 1997 and continued his hobby of genealogy research that he had done for many years. Don and Ann, his wife of 66 years, continued to travel throughout the United States and Canada for several years, locating and visiting newly discovered relatives. He created several books of their family history. These books are a cherished legacy.
After traveling, he spent his time gardening and enjoying time spent with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Don also enjoyed riding his bicycle or walking through town visiting the community members of the town he grew up in and so dearly loved.
He was preceded in death by his youngest son, Terry Raymond, parents, Clarence and Edrie Raymond, brother and sister-in-law, Cecil (Velma) Raymond, sister, Arlene Linderman, and sister and brother-in-law, Wanda (Bill) King.
Survivors include his wife, Ann; son, Brian Raymond of Wellsville, KS; daughter, Diana (Ron) Wood of Stanberry, MO; daughter-in-law, Stacy Raymond; seven grandchildren, Chris (Lacey) Raymond, Mindy Raymond, Eric Wood, Jason Wood, Ashley (Corby) Robertson, Jonathan (Rebecca) Raymond, Lucas Raymond; eight great-grandchildren, Shea Raymond, Conner Raymond, Caden Raymond, Kinzlee Raymond, Rory Raymond, Ariana Law, Kamden Morlock, Millie Robertson, and brother, Tommy (JoAnn) Raymond.
Farewell Services to be held at a later date. Burial will follow in the High Ridge Cemetery, Stanberry, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the High Ridge Cemetery, payments must be made out to Stanberry City Hall.
Don was a member of the Missouri Cremation Service. Online guestbook and obituary at www.missouricremation.com.
