Barbara Meadors Obituary

Barbara L. Meadors, 89, Leavenworth, Kansas, passed away Thursday, March 26, 2026.
She was born May 9, 1936 in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Barbara graduated from Western Maryland State College, now known as McDaniel College, and carried the education she received there into a life of steady work and broad experience. After college, she worked for a mining company and later served as a civilian employee, running service clubs for the U.S. Government.
Much of Barbara’s adult life was spent in Europe, where she made her home in places including London, Germany, Italy, and France until the mid-1980s. Those years were an important part of her story and reflected her adventurous nature and willingness to embrace new experiences. While living abroad, she purchased a Porsche 911 and became the first U.S. female to attend Porsche Driving School. When Barbara returned to the United States, she worked for Ball’s Grocery in Kansas City until her retirement around 1990.
Barbara also enjoyed life beyond her work. She was an avid bowler and participated in tournaments. She also liked golfing and appreciated time spent outdoors. Her dogs held a special place in her heart, and she loved them dearly. Those who knew Barbara will remember her as a happy, loving person whose kindness and positive outlook were evident in the way she lived each day.
Survivors include her good friend, Victor Spears.
