Alyce Hougas, 90, St. Joseph, Missouri died Monday, January 23, 2012 at Saxton Woods.
She was born December 31, 1921 in Atherton, Missouri to James John and Jessie Ellen (Higdon) Boswell.
Alyce married Melvin E. Hougas on March 15, 1943 and preceeded her in death on November 26, 2011.
Mrs. Hougas worked at the St. Joseph Washington Park Public Library as a librarian for 22 years where she was known as "Aunty B" the Story Hour Lady. She retired in 1987.
She was very active as a member of the 17th Street Congregation of Community of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Survivors: sister, Ethel Carlile; daughters, Avis Jackson, Ann Chleborad, both of St. Joseph; three grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Services: Memorial Services will be held for Alyce and Melvin Hougas at 17th Street Congregation of Community of Christ Church on Saturday, February 25 at 11:00 A.M. Mrs. Hougas was a member of Missouri Cremation Services.
