Obituary

Wanda Joyce Cozine passed away March 11, 2017, at Village Care Center in Maryville, MO, where she had resided the past two and a half years.

Wanda was born July 30, 1932, to Francis and Alma Brandon in Washington, KS. Wanda, her parents and three siblings moved frequently throughout her early childhood. She reported attending 13 different schools by the time she entered high school. She met her future husband, Hubert Cozine, while attending high school back in Washington, KS.

Wanda and Hubert were married on September 25, 1954, at the Methodist Church in Washington, KS. Wanda worked for an insurance company and completed taxes for people for several years until forced to quit due to her pregnancy with Randy. In those days, it was frowned upon to work after a woman began to “show.” Her family of seven children and her husband were her world. She was a Sunday school teacher, vacation Bible school teacher, foster parent and hospice volunteer. She managed the home, children, and finances while Hubert often worked two jobs and long hours to support their large and growing family. She and Hubert were married for 62 years.

Hubert and Wanda enjoyed traveling across the country to visit their children and grandchildren. They eventually left their home of 50 years near Holmesville, NE, to reside near their youngest son Royce in Barnard, MO, after she was in a serious car accident.

Wanda is survived by her husband Hubert, sons Randy and Carolyn of Lincoln, NE. (Deborah and Crystal); Rod and Suzette (Moeller) of Lincoln, NE, (Jena, Chelsey, Derek, Colin, James and Zachary), Rick and Jeanne of Pontococ, MS,(Nicole, Amy and Jamie); Royce and Deanna of Barnard, MO, (Gayle, Jason, Brandon and Bryce); and daughters Rolana and Duff McCafferty of Rapid City, SD, (Kaitlin and Ryan); Renae and Tom Marshall of Hinesburg, VT, (Zach and Tyler); and Roleta and Will Vraspir of Hastings, NE, (Nick, Ashley and Logan), 21 great-grandchildren, her brothers Berkley and Glenn Brandon and sister Marilyn Twining. She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Alma Brandon.

Memorial donations may be made to the Holmesville Church of the Brethren or to a charity of your choice. Mrs. Cozine was a member of the Missouri Cremation Service. Online guestbook and obituary at www.missouricremation.com.
